As your Commissioner, I will fulfill my responsibilities of elected
office through the lens of our Republican Party Platform.
Join me...to maximize government efficiency. That means doing more with less. It means maximizing services while minimizing the resources to produce those services…and it means maintaining or improving quality over time. These metrics are used to maximize profits in business. Why must they be lost on government?
Join me...to reduce taxes. Recognizing that the power to tax is also the power to control, we the people must strictly control the amount of taxes imposed on us. Taxes should be limited to meet the essential public needs of our community. Most of our needs as citizens, are met through free enterprise, private initiative, and volunteerism…not government.
Join me...to hold government to its proper role. Our government properly exists by the consent of the governed, us. It must be restrained from intruding into our freedoms while protecting our unalienable rights of life, liberty, property and the pursuit of happiness. God created and controls us…we created and control government.
Join me...in finding ways to protect the ownership of our homes. A consumption tax tied to home sales can eliminate the annual property tax bill and the consequences of non-payment. It’s not fair when income is fixed at retirement while home values and property taxes skyrocket due to government incompetence. Citizen’s face losing their homes if they can’t pay those ever-increasing taxes. I have proffered a way, a consumption tax on the sale of a home.
Join me...to promote self-reliance and personal responsibility. When we depend on ourselves, we are stronger and more successful. With that success comes greater honor in ourselves and our work. This honor builds character and results in more happiness and happier people are more likely to make positive contributions to our community.
Join me...to hold public servants accountable. Candidates and elected officials must be independent and impartial, place the public interest above any private interest, and voluntarily disclose perceived, potential, or actual conflicts of interest. A conflict of interest means a circumstance where a person’s personal or business interests give the perception of or conflict with that person’s obligation(s) such that it may interfere with his or her exercise of judgements or duties.
Join me...to support Public Safety and Law Enforcement. Protecting citizens in their homes and communities requires a swift and balanced administration of justice, including consideration of the rights of the victim. State Legislation has committed to mandatory investments and commitments of local tax dollars to expand mental health treatment for inmates while in jail. This is a dangerous direction for taxpayers and is not the proper role of government.
Join me...to rely more on market forces and less on government. We recognize that government regulations can be a major impediment to business start-up, productivity and competition so we must reduce regulations. Thriving small businesses create thriving communities. When they succeed, there are more high-paying jobs. Citizens, in turn, can afford to shop locally. Neighborhoods and schools get better. Quality of life improves across the board. This attracts more people to move into the community… and more small businesses to invest in it. It’s a virtuous cycle. When small business wins, communities win.
